I’m a science and math educator dedicated to equity, inclusion, and place-based learning. I design lessons that connect curriculum to local land, community, and lived experience, helping students see themselves reflected in STEM. My goal is to make learning meaningful, accessible, and empowering for all learners.

Map of Treaty 7 Traditional Territories

I am originally from Treaty 7 territory, the ancestral territory of the Siksika (Blackfoot), Kainai (Blood), Piikani (Peigan), Stoney-Nakoda, and Tsuut’ina (Sarcee) Peoples.

I was born in Garhe Meheduwa (Cochrane), neighbouring Mînî Thnî (formerly Morley) within Stoney-Nakoda territory, to a first-generation Canadian of Dutch Immigrant parents and an Australian/Burmese Immigrant. I value every experience growing up within Treaty 7 territory has given me, and bring my learned values with me to all places.

I respectfully acknowledge that I live and work on the unceded territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples, including the Songhees Nation, Esquimalt First Nations, and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. I recognise that their historical relationship with the land continues to this day and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to live, teach, and learn on these lands. I am continually learning about their cultures, traditions, and histories and will make a conscious effort to embed meaningful connections between the First People’s Principles of Learning and local knowledge into my classes and pedagogy.
